EDUCAUSE Members Urged to Change Their Passwords After Hacking Incident

EDUCAUSE recently discovered a security breach that may have compromised the passwords of individuals with EDUCAUSE website profiles. EDUCAUSE has deactivated all website profile passwords as a precaution and sent notification to account holders on February 19 instructing them to change their EDUCAUSE account passwords.

If you have an EDUCAUSE account, CSSD recommends that you immediately change your EDUCAUSE account password. If you use your EDUCAUSE password for any other services (including your Pitt account), it is recommended that you also change those passwords immediately. Remember, you can change your University Computing Account password at any time by logging in to My Pitt (my.pitt.edu), clicking Profile in the top right-hand corner of the page, and then clicking Change Account Password.  Keep in mind that no legitimate organization, including the University of Pittsburgh, will ever solicit confidential information (such as credit card information or your Pitt password) by any means. CSSD recommends that you do not reply to unsolicited emails or emails from unverifiable sources. You should also avoid clicking on links contained in such emails, as these may lead to sites that contain harmful software.
