Online Technology Training Videos that Really Work

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Computing Services and Systems Development (CSSD) is pleased to make online technology training available to the University community through a partnership with lynda.com, a leading provider of video-based learning.

Students, faculty, and staff now have unlimited access to thousands of training videos on a wide range of topics, including Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, digital photography, web design, animation, blogging, video editing, and much more.

To access the service, log in at lynda.pitt.edu or through My Pitt (my.pitt.edu). Videos can be viewed from a desktop computer, laptop, or any mobile device.

Each video is divided into smaller sections, so you can watch an entire video or just focus on the sections that interest you. You can search for keywords and jump to the exact spot in the video where those words are used. And if you don't finish a video, you can pick up right where you left off the next time you log in.

You can also bookmark your favorite videos and even create playlists of videos and share those playlists with others at Pitt. The help videos at the bottom of our lynda.pitt.edu page explain more about these and other features.

  • Students: Brush up on a program to help with your coursework or learn techniques for your own projects.
  • Faculty: Assign video tutorials for a project or create customized playlists and share them with your students.
  • Staff: Learn new skills, enhance your resume, or explore new technologies on your own.
