Microsoft Lync Upgrade May Prompt Some Users to Update the Email Address Associated with their Microsoft Account

This weekend CSSD will add the capability for all Microsoft Lync users at Pitt to add Skype users to their list of Lync contacts. Lync service will continue to be available throughout the normal downtime period (11:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28 through 7:00 a.m. Sunday, September 29).
In order to enable this functionality, your Microsoft account and your Pitt account need to be unique. If you have a Microsoft account (formerly "Windows Live ID") that uses your "@pitt.edu" email address, you may be prompted to change the email address associated with your Microsoft account as a result of this upgrade. If you receive this prompt when logging in to a Microsoft service like Hotmail or Xbox LIVE, follow the onscreen instructions to associate a new email address with your Microsoft account. The new email address you use should be a personal email address that does not contain "pitt.edu".
