Cloud Storage Space on pitt.box.com is Now 50 GB!
We're excited to announce that Computing Services and Systems Development (CSSD) has increased the amount of cloud storage space available to University of Pittsburgh students, faculty, and staff through pitt.box.com from 25 GB to 50 GB.
pitt.box.com is a secure, online file storage service that enables users to upload files and access them from any location with any device. The service is available to University students, faculty, and staff at no cost.
The 50 GB of storage available through pitt.box.com significantly exceeds the space offered through free personal cloud storage accounts such as Dropbox (2 GB) and Google Drive (15 GB).
pitt.box.com provides a broad range of collaboration features that make it more than simply a convenient location to store files. You can invite others (even people outside of Pitt) to share and edit your files. You can post comments right alongside your files and assign tasks with due dates. Real-time updates and email notifications inform you when a document has been edited and when you have been mentioned in a comment or task. The service also automatically archives previous versions of your documents and files, so you can easily go back and refer to an earlier draft.
You can also keep the files you upload completely private and use pitt.box.com to organize and manage your work. You can search the full text of the files you have stored to quickly find what you need. You can also organize files into folders and tag files with keywords to organize them more efficiently. A sync client enables you to work on files directly from your desktop and save them to pitt.box.com without ever opening a Web browser.
Access to pitt.box.com is available from almost any mobile device. Mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows 8, BlackBerry, and more can be downloaded at pitt.box.com. A wide variety of other apps enable you to integrate pitt.box.com with other software programs you use every day. For example, you can edit and save files directly from Microsoft Office, or send a link to a pitt.box.com file from within Microsoft Outlook.
