PittNet(Wireless): Guest Wireless Access Overview

Overview

Guests visiting the University of Pittsburgh can request short-term wireless access for academic- or business-related purposes. All Guests must have a University faculty or staff member approve their requests and act as their Host. Guests can submit their own requests, or a Host can submit and approve a request on behalf of a Guest.

Requests Submitted by a Guest

A Guest can submit a request by completing the Guest Access Request form at technology.pitt.edu. Guests will need to know the University Computing Account username of their Host in order to complete the form. The flowchart below explains the request and approval process. For step-by-step instructions, refer to the Requesting Guest Wireless Access Web page.

Note: By approving a guest’s request, the Host assumes responsibility for the Guest’s actions on the University’s network.

Requests Submitted by a Host

University faculty and staff members can request and approve access on behalf of a Guest. To do so, log in to the My Pitt (my.pitt.edu) Web portal, click the My Resources tab, and select Guest Access. Click the Create new request link and complete the form. The flowchart below explains the request and approval process.
