June 2023 Microsoft Security Update

Microsoft Corporation has announced security updates for June that affect a broad range of Microsoft product Specific information about the updates is available on Microsoft’s Security TechCenter.

Pitt Information Technology recommends that users immediately identify and install the security updates necessary to remediate these vulnerabilities by using Microsoft's Windows Update feature on their computers as soon as possible.

Storage Changes Coming July 1: Review Recordings for Zoom and Canvas

As previously announced in March 2023, Panopto, the vendor behind Pitt’s Lecture Capture system used for Canvas instructional recordings, as well as the default solution for saving Zoom meeting and webinar recordings, recently ended unlimited storage for all customers. 

Student Information System Unavailable During Routine Maintenance Scheduled for May 20-21

Monday, May 15, 2023 - 9:17am

PeopleSoft and PeopleSoft/HighPoint Campus Experience (CX) will be unavailable during vendor maintenance scheduled for the Student Information System beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 20. This work is expected to last until 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 21. The systems will be returned to service earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule.

This routine maintenance is necessary to maintain the security, stability, and reliability of the Student Information System.

New LastPass Features: Dark Web Monitoring and Password Iterations

On Thursday, May 11, Pitt IT will activate two new security features for desktop users of LastPass — the provider for the University’s Password Manager and vault service — Dark Web Monitoring and increased Password Iterations.

Changes on April 21 Affect AP and GL File Synchronization Times

On Friday, April 21, changes will be made to PittSFTP giving users more time to review, adjust content, and when necessary, re-submit Accounts Payable (AP) and General Ledger (GL) files with corrected data before being imported into PRISM for processing.
