Get to Know the IT Partners Program

Overview

An IT Partner is an IT professional who has technical oversight and/or support responsibilities within a University department. These individuals were hired into technical positions by a University department and they are identified by their supervisor to participate in the program. A number of departments have two or three analysts designated as IT Partners. The IT Partners Program is designed to improve communication and help develop positive relationships with technical analysts hired by University departments and units. This includes outreach through meetings and targeted emails.

Meetings cover topics of common interest such as security, new technology services, networking issues, and system upgrades.

Presentations from the technology community are interspersed with roundtable discussions. These collaborative discussions are moderated by Pitt IT managers and staff, and provide IT Partners with the opportunity to meet, address common issues, and hear about new services. Feedback from these discussions and targeted IT Partners surveys is invaluable to planning, implementing, and enhancing our services, as well as planning future IT Partners events.

Any staff member who supports the information technology services for any University department, school, or business unit is welcome to join Expert Partners. To register, please submit an online help request.

The IT Partners SharePoint site provides members with various resources. There you will find:

  • A list of members
  • Links to previous meeting presentations
  • Information about upcoming meetings
  • Systems alerts and more
