Alumni Accounts: Granting or Restricting Access to Departmental Services

As of spring 2015, graduating students are granted Alumni Accounts that provide access to certain enterprise services such as Pitt Email (Outlook). Some University departments provide additional technology services They may want to allow alumni access to these services or restrict these services (for example, because of licensing requirements). The technical information provided in this section is intended to help departmental IT staff modify access to their services as needed.

The following table summarizes the results of our Windows 8.1 testing.

The Windows 8.1 column shows the results of non-browser based services. We also tested University services with Internet Explorer 11 in both Windows 8.1 User Interface (UI) mode and Desktop mode.

Getting Started with Telecommunications Online Billing

The Departmental Online Phone Billing system contains billing data for your telephone and network services. Authorized users can easily search and view telecommunications invoices without installing new software.

The following table summarizes the results of our Windows 10 testing. We tested University Services with the new operating system and with the new web browser, Microsoft Edge.

In some cases, you will need to use Internet Explorer to use a service with Windows 10.

Office 2013: Introduction

Overview

When Office 2010 was released in 2009, its new interface represented a significant change from the previous version of Office, Office 2007. The introduction of Office 2013 three years later did not introduce as many changes as the previous version. However, it did feature several new enhancements that expands the access of Office applications.
