PittNet Wi-Fi: Connecting your Apple TV

Overview

The following instructions can be used to configure your Apple TV to connect to PittNet Wi-Fi. At this time wired 802.1x connections to PittNet are not supported by the Apple TV. Certain steps require you to switch between your Apple TV and Mac computer, so pay attention to which is required. 

PittNet Wi-Fi: Connecting with macOS 10.8 & 10.9

Overview

The University of Pittsburgh's PittNet Wi-Fi service provides wireless network access to all University of Pittsburgh students, faculty, and staff.

Note: You must have installed the InCommon certificates before completing the instructions below. Refer to the help sheet titled Installing the InCommon and UserTrust Certificates (Mac) for details.

Using Spirion to Remove Personal Information from Your Macintosh Computer

Overview

Spirion (formerly Identity Finder) is software program that helps to identify and remove personally identifiable information that may be on your computer. Spirion can search your computer for sensitive date information, such as social security numbers, passwords, credit card information, and more. You can also configure Spirion to search a particular folder on your computer or for your own personal information, such as your passport or date of birth. This document explains how to use the basic features of Spirion.

Before You Get Started

To connect your Mac to PittNet Wi-Fi, you will need:

  • MacOS v10.8 or higher
  • Built-in Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi Adapter
  • Valid University Computing Account
