Network Maintenance to Affect Several Buildings on Feb. 11

Network equipment will be upgraded during the standard downtime period on Saturday, February 11 beginning at 11:00 p.m. The work is expected to be completed by 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 12. 

Wired and wireless network service will be briefly affected in the following locations:

  • Hillman Library
  • Bridgeside Point
  • Mervis Hall
  • Sennott Square
  • Posvar Hall
  • Network traffic (MPLS) to UPMC from Biomedical Science Tower 3 (BST3)

Wired and wireless network service may also be affected in the following buildings:

  • Chevron Building
  • Eberly Hall
  • Biomedical Science Tower 3 (BST3)

Network equipment will be upgraded during the standard downtime period on Saturday, February 18 beginning at 11:00 p.m. The work is expected to be completed by 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 19.

Wired network service will be briefly affected in the following locations:

  • Network traffic (MPLS) to UPMC from Engineering Hall
  • Network traffic (MPLS) from Thackeray Hall

Wired and wireless network service may also be affected in the following buildings:

Network equipment will be upgraded at the University Data Center (Network Operation Center) during the standard downtime period on Saturday, February 25 beginning at 11:00 p.m. The work is expected to be completed by 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 26. There is no impact to any services expected. This maintenance is necessary to ensure the continued reliability and stability of the network.

Resolved: Microsoft Issue Affecting Outlook Web App Tiles

Microsoft has resolved the intermittent issue that affected the ability of some students, faculty, and staff to view the full list of Office 365 menu tiles within Outlook Web App.

Microsoft is experiencing an intermittent issue with its Outlook Web App (OWA) that is affecting the ability of some students, faculty, and staff to view the full list of Office 365 menu tiles within OWA. Only menu tiles within Outlook Web App are affected; all menu tiles remain available within other Office 365 products, including SharePoint and OneDrive for Business. Access to SharePoint and OneDrive for Business through My Pitt is not affected by this issue.

This help sheet explains the steps for connecting to guest wireless on campus. Guest wireless service is available for short-term use by guests on official University business.

Before using the instructions below to connect, the guest must have submitted an access request in advance and a faculty or staff member must have approved the request. Alternatively, a faculty or staff member can create an account on behalf of a guest.
