Access My Pitt Email with the IMAP Protocol

You can use the IMAP protocol to access your My Pitt Email by following the steps below. You may need to use the IMAP protocol if you access your email with the Thunderbird desktop email client or if you have a smartphone that does not support ActiveSync.

Recreate Your My Pitt Email Profile on Your Mobile Device

University faculty and staff are being moved to Office 365 Email. After the move, smartphones and mobile devices should automatically reconnect to My Pitt Email. However, you may need to recreate your profile to access your My Pitt Email.

Email: Ensure You Are Using the Most Recent Browser

University faculty and staff have access to Office 365 Email. To sucessfully utlilize this service versus our Legacy IMAP Email service, it is recommended that you upgrade to the latest version of your preferred Web browser. 

Outlook: Check Which Version You are Using

University faculty and staff are provided with access to My Pitt Email (Office 365 Email). Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2013 are the supported desktop email clients for Windows computers. Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2011 are supported for Mac.

Office 365 Email Mailboxes for New Employees

Overview

Beginning October 8, mailboxes for new faculty and staff members will be created in Office 365 Email. If your department has not yet moved to Office 365 Email, there will be some minor differences between the new faculty or staff member's email service and the email service used by others in the department. This page summarizes some of those differences.

Student Information System (PeopleSoft) Maintenance in Progress

The Student Information System (PeopleSoft) is undergoing maintenance from 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 30 through 8:00 a.m. Monday, October 3. Access to PeopleSoft is unavailable during this time. The system will be returned to service earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule.
