Depending on the data that was found on your computer during the scan, you will be presented with a number of options for handling the results. Spirion will present options for each type of file that was found to contain sensitive data. These options include the following:
- Secure Selected: Enables you to keep the data on your computer. Spirion will encrypt the file and secure it with a password that you will set.
- Shred Selected: Securely removes the data from your computer by overwriting the file multiple times. Once you shred a file, it cannot be recovered.
- Recycle Selected: Moves files to your Recycle folder. This option does not securely shred the file or protect it with a password. It simply moves it to the Recycle folder. You should not use this option for any files that contain sensitive information.
- Quarantine Selected: Moves the file to another location and shreds the original. If the file you are quarantining contains sensitive data, you should be sure to select a secure location in which to quarantine it (such as an encrypted drive or storage device).
- Ignored Selected Locations: Takes no action on the data. This option should only be used for files that do not contain any sensitive information.
- Skip Remaining Items: Skips over the remaining search results.
-
After you have finished selecting an action for each search result, the window below will display. Click the Finish button to conclude your scan.
Note: If you leave Schedule a weekly Spirion search checked, then Spirion will search your computer at 11:00 p.m. every Sunday. You may change this schedule, or its settings, at any time via the Settings dialog box. You will be prompted to enter your profile username and password to schedule a scan.
