Message From the Chief Information Officer

Dear University community:photo of Mark Henderson, CIO

Pitt Information Technology’s purpose is to create experiences that delight, inspire, and empower people to impact education, research, and the broader community.

To accomplish this, we continue to reimagine and transform ourselves to better serve the University community and our region. Our services enhance learning and increase opportunities for research collaboration. They also facilitate diversity and inclusion and bridge the digital divide to help our neighbors in need. In these and many other ways, we leverage the University’s IT resources to align with and enable the Plan for Pitt.

In the pages that follow, I am pleased to share with you some of our many accomplishments from the past year. However, these accomplishments are not ours alone. They are built upon the strong partnerships we have established with schools, departments, and centers across the University. This annual report is a celebration of everything we have achieved together.

As a result of our successful partnerships, we have been able to:

  • Help departments leverage the power of analytics to modernize and transform their work
  • Enable Pitt and UPMC staff to collaborate more easily and effectively
  • Participate in local/regional coalitions working to close the digital divide across the Commonwealth
  • Evolve our organizational structure to better ensure that IT services align with the evolving academic, research, and business needs of the University
  • Take the first strides toward creating a new Health Sciences & Medical Innovation Hub

It has been an exciting year and the future is filled with possibility. We look forward to collaborating with you to help the University forge ahead.

Hail to Pitt!

Mark D. Henderson
