Strategic Initiatives: One IT @ Pitt

4. One IT @ Pitt

""

This transformative initiative tightly integrates Pitt IT into the University units we serve, while combining resources. Under this project, unit-based IT staff become Pitt IT staff members and unit IT budgets are transferred to Pitt IT. The result is a trusted partnership between Pitt IT and the schools / departments in which Pitt IT staff members are embedded.

Integration of Pitt IT resources into the units we serve allows us to provide the best possible service to the University while eliminating duplication, better aligning IT resources to increase services, and lowering costs. In addition, integrated IT staff benefit from improved access to training and career opportunities. To date, more than 80 IT staff members from seven units have become part of this initiative.

"Pitt Business staff and faculty would not be able to do our jobs as efficiently as we do if we didn’t have Ash Brady from Pitt IT helping us on the back end. Having someone you can trust brings all the staff in Pitt Business comfort — knowing our issues, big or small, are going to be taken care of.”

- Becky Rhoades, Associate Director of Career Programming, College of Business Administration

One-Stop Classroom Support

Our integration efforts resulted in a solution that ensures instructors receive the right support from the right people as quickly as possible. Instructors are often unsure whom to call for help in their classroom: Pitt IT, the University Center for Teaching and Learning, Facilities Management, or the Office of the University Registrar. Pitt IT streamlined support with the Office of the Provost and the Classroom Management Team. Anyone can now call the 24/7 IT Help Desk and select a new “Classroom Support” option.

Health Sciences IT Integration

To date, more than 25 IT staff members from the Health Sciences schools have been integrated as part of the initiative to create One IT for Health Sciences. The teams have focused on efficient, equitable IT services across the Health Sciences.
